Olga Gonzalez
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Olga Gonzalez (she, her, hers) was born in Monterrey Nuevo León, Mexico and grew up in Los Angeles, California.  She is proud of her Indigenous Mexican identity (Yaqui/Otomi) and refers to herself as a “MeXicanIndia” to honor the rich cultures and experiences that shaped her.

 

Olga is a long-time diversity, equity and inclusion consultant, seasoned nonprofit professional, and community activist and organizer.  Prior to joining Cultivando as interim Executive Director, she served as the board vice president for 2 years.  

 

Olga earned a dual bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Chicano Studies from Scripps College and a master’s degree in Nonprofit Management from Regis University as a Colorado Trust Fellow.  She has earned several awards for her work in the areas of health equity and social justice, including the Award for Excellence in the Promotion of Health Equity from the Public Health in the Rockies Conference.  She is currently part of the Transformative Leadership for Change fellowship that builds the strength, relationships and power social justice leaders from throughout Colorado. 

 

Olga is the proud mother of three amazing children, who along with her husband, is raising to be the next generation of fierce and compassionate social justice warriors.  In her free time, Olga likes trying out new restaurants, reading, spending time with her family, and teaching Zumba classes.

 

Rocio Franco

Rocio Joined Cultivando's leadership team in 2016, bringing her years of experience working for Mapleton Public Schools and managing her family's business. Rocio believes in community strength and leadership, and brings a calmness and thoughtfulness to Cultivando's team.

Rocio grew up in Chijuajua, Mexico and moved to Colorado 15 years ago. She lives in Thornton with her husband and two beautiful girls.

 

Rocio Franco

Rocio grew up in Chihuahua, Mexico and moved to Colorado 15 years ago. She joined Cultivando's leadership team in 2017 as Director of Strategic Partnerships, bringing her years of experience working for Mapleton Public Schools and managing her family's business.

 

In this role, she led Cultivando’s outreach efforts which resulted in collaborations with various organizations and city government. In 2018, she was promoted to Associate Director in recognition of her leadership skills and of her passion and dedication to the promotora model and philosophy of “corazón de servicio” (heart of service). 

Rocio believes in community strength and leadership, she is also a strong advocate for supporting emotional health, both within the Cultivando team, and among our community members.

 

Rocio lives in Thornton with her husband and two teenage daughters. She loves to spend time with her family and practices yoga as her favorite hobby.

 

Maria Zubiate

Maria Zubiate joined Cultivando in September 2015 as a Promotora. She joined Cultivando because she believes in the values ​​of the organization, in creating leadership, advocacy and collaboration in the community.

 

She has been working over 20 years in the community in different areas, such as, health, job fairs and family well-being. Maria worked as a volunteer in various organizations, during this time she was able to see many inequities, barriers and challenges that the community face. This sparked her passion and desire to continue working and collaborating with the community to create change and impact systems that were equitable. She knows that to create a healthy and strong community, there must be collaboration between organizations, cities, legislators and community; honoring the experience and leadership of people within the community.

 

Maria was born and raised in Chihuahua, Mexico and currently resides in Commerce City. In her spare time she enjoys dancing, reading books, and spending time with her family.

Guadalupe Villalobos

Guadalupe Villalobos is a Promotora in Cultivando, since September 2015. One of her passions is to work with commuity members by collaborating to promote their leadership,  unify their voices and together advocate for equitable and inclusive changes in the systems.

 

Lupe emigrated from Guadalajara to the United States with her husband and children, with the purpose of creating a better future for them, and through her experience in dealing with language barriers and abuse in the education system. She is also passionate about the success of children in their education and believes in the power of parents to achieve this.

 

In her spare time Lupe likes to cook for her family, she enjoys dancing and traveling with family.

Reyna Soria

Reyna was born in Guanajuato, Mexico she came to the United States in 1998. She worked as a volunteer for 15 years in different schools and non-profit organizations in Commerce City. 

 

Reyna joined Cultivation in April 2015, her passion to inform and support community members to strengthen their leadership and advocacy was one of the main reasons in which she decided to join our team. 

 

Her favorite things to do is cook, zumba classes and time spend with her family.

Denise Romero
OPERATIONS MANAGER

Denise joined Cultivando’s team in October 2018 after attending the University of Northern Colorado where she studied Sociology while focusing on underrepresented minority students. As a first-generation Latina student, Denise recognized the challenges and barriers that students and families of color and face within the educational system. This set off her passion for leadership and the importance of equitable resources for the Latino community. Her years of experience and social justice training have supported her passion in working with community to create and provide advocacy and leadership opportunities.   

 

Denise was born in Las Cruces, New Mexico and raised in Denver. In her free time, Denise enjoys spending time with her two furry children, traveling, reading, and spending time with her niece and nephew.
