Maria Zubiate joined Cultivando in September 2015 as a Promotora. She joined Cultivando because she believes in the values of the organization, in creating leadership, advocacy and collaboration in the community.
She has been working over 20 years in the community in different areas, such as, health, job fairs and family well-being. Maria worked as a volunteer in various organizations, during this time she was able to see many inequities, barriers and challenges that the community face. This sparked her passion and desire to continue working and collaborating with the community to create change and impact systems that were equitable. She knows that to create a healthy and strong community, there must be collaboration between organizations, cities, legislators and community; honoring the experience and leadership of people within the community.
Maria was born and raised in Chihuahua, Mexico and currently resides in Commerce City. In her spare time she enjoys dancing, reading books, and spending time with her family.
