About the event
In partnership with two talented Colorado filmmakers, Raúl Paz Pastrana and Alan Domínguez, Cultivando is thrilled to present the premiere of "Las Promotoras," a compelling documentary that shines a spotlight on the dedicated advocates from our community.
These passionate individuals, known as 'Las Promotoras,' work tirelessly alongside neighbors and local residents to initiate social change. Their story is one of resilience, determination, and the unwavering belief that the power of community can challenge even the mightiest adversaries.
The documentary delves into their vital work, focusing on the battle against the environmental challenges posed by the Suncor Oil Refinery. For decades, our predominantly Latino community in zip code 80216 has endured the consequences of environmental genocide, with air, water, and soil contamination taking a severe toll on our health.
But Cultivando, led by a small yet powerful team of Indigenous and Latina women, refuses to accept this status quo. They are on the frontlines of the fight to end environmental contamination and its devastating impacts. Their dedication and determination have made a profound impact in the quest for environmental justice.
Join us for this special premiere event as we celebrate 'Las Promotoras' and their relentless pursuit of a healthier, more just community. Together, we'll bear witness to their inspiring journey and the incredible power of community-driven change. Don't miss this opportunity to be a part of something transformative. Together, we can challenge the giants and create a brighter future for all.
