Every year, Cultivando joins forces with other Latino organizations across the state for Latino Advocacy Day, a powerful showcase of Latina leadership and advocacy. This year, from March 16th to 18th, 2024, we came together to raise our voices on behalf of the most vulnerable members of our communities, fostering a vision for healthy communities through collective action.
Collaboration for Empowerment
Latino Advocacy Day is a testament to the strength achieved through collaboration. By working with other organizations, Cultivando amplifies its message and ensures a stronger presence for Latina empowerment at the table. This year, we advocated for issues that directly impact the health and well-being of Latino families, particularly those in vulnerable communities, including immigrants. We believe in the power of community, equity, and opportunity for all.
Cultivating a Healthier Future
Clean air is a basic human right, yet many vulnerable communities, especially low-income communities of color, are disproportionately burdened by air pollution. During Latino Advocacy Day, we urged local legislators to prioritize policies that promote cleaner air and protect the health of our communities.
We also championed initiatives that would make healthy living more accessible for all. This could involve promoting access to fresh, healthy food options in underserved areas, supporting the creation of safe and walkable neighborhoods, or advocating for increased investment in preventative healthcare services – all essential for building healthy communities.
Your Voice is Our Strength
By meeting with our legislators and sharing the real-life experiences of those we serve, Cultivando plays a vital role in shaping policies that have a direct impact on people's lives. Advocacy is how we cultivate a brighter future for Latino families, immigrants, and all members of our community.
Looking Ahead: Cultivating Change Together
Latino Advocacy Day is just one piece of Cultivando's ongoing commitment to advocacy and Latina leadership. We will continue to work with our partners throughout the year to ensure the needs of our communities are heard and addressed.
How You Can Cultivate Change
Want to be part of the movement for positive change? Here are a few ways you can get involved:
Contact your legislators: Let your elected officials know what issues matter most to you, especially those affecting vulnerable communities and healthy communities where everyone can thrive.
